Baseball America: ‘Enough conflict, drama, and romance to make a great movie’
Baseball America joins the army of publications offering rave reviews of Fifty-nine in ’84. Reviewer James Bailey writes that author Edward Achorn “expertly captures the game’s nuances during its formative years” and hails the book’s colorful characters and depiction of baseball in its “Wild West” days. Noting that Achorn modeled the book, in some ways, on the best-selling Seabiscuit, Bailey observes: “Mission accomplished.”
Bailey writes: “And perhaps like Seabiscuit, Radbourn’s story will make its way to the big screen. … (Megan Fox, give him a call.)”
He adds: “It seems like a natural fit. There’s certainly enough conflict, drama, and romance to make a great movie. They won’t even need a Hollywood ending. Radbourn provided it himself.”
